Marius Meyer is an HR academic affiliated to the Department of Industrial Psychology at Stellenbosch University and is the previous CEO of SABPP. Marius facilitated training and consulting interventions for more than 200 companies. Previously Marius lectured in HR at Technikon SA, University of South Africa and University of Johannesburg. He has been an HR practitioner, consultant, academic, board member and manager for the past 24 years. Marius is registered as a Master HR Professional with SABPP. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors. He was an advisory board member of the African Society for Talent Development and founding member of Talent Talks, South Africa’s first talent management platform and magazine. Marius is a regular speaker at local and international conferences and author of 26 books and 500+ articles. He has a passion for leadership, strategy, governance, organisation development, change management and people development. Under his leadership a significant output of the SABPP team was the National HR Competency Model, as well as a full set of national HR standards, the first set of national HR standards in the world. A comprehensive HR audit framework has been developed to audit application of the HR standards within companies, which is also the first national HR audit unit in the world. In 2017 Marius steered the process of developing the first South African Leadership Standard. During his time as CEO of SABPP the Minister of Justice approved SABPP HR professionals as Ex-officio Commissioners of Oaths. His most recent output is South Africa’s first HR Governance framework as a blue print for HR Directors in adding value to boards, councils and other governing bodies. Marius recently received a life-time achievement award from the SABPP board and was subsequently retained as HR Standards Thought Leader for SABPP.

Dr James is a Senior Human Resources Manager at AngloGold Ashanti Limited and his area of work includes the execution of the people strategy, transformation and change management initiatives. He has more than 13 years’ experience specialising in human resources, talent management, people effectiveness and industrial psychological services in a variety of industries including mining, manufacturing, and education. James holds a Phd in Industrial Psychology from UKZN. He is a registered Industrial Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and a Chartered HR Professional with the South African Board of People Practices (SABPP). He recently achieved a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) status with Toastmasters International, a communication and leadership organisation. James is a passionate human capital developer, some of his areas of interest include diversity and inclusion and gender diversity. He advocates for a new way of thinking when it comes to people practices and creating conducive environments for people to flourish and reach their potential. Further, he is a lifelong learner who believes in diversifying one’s capabilities as far and wide as possible to ensure that one is a well-rounded and insightful leader. As a professional James believes that leaders are not leaders, until they create other leaders who will also create other leaders. He is fervent about mentorship and coaching, not just to keep up with the trend, but because he also is a direct beneficiary of this very process. One of his life philosophies is that “if you have something good and you do not share it, then you are evil ~ Chinese proverb”; so at any given opportunity, James will share what is great that he has seen or heard, and also listen to receive the gift from the other person at the same time.

Pauls Gibbons has a M.A. Degree (Leading Innovation & Change) and a B. Com (Hons) Degree in Human Resource Management. Pauls is an accredited coach as well as a mentor. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Master HR Professional registered with the South African Board for People Practice where she was a former Chair of the Ethics Committee. Pauls has over 20 years’ experience as an HR executive and a senior HR and OD consultant. Her skills include human resource strategy, change management, coaching, facilitation, job evaluation, organisational design and development, performance management, policy development, remuneration and reward, succession planning and talent management. Pauls is passionate about the SABPP National HR Standards and did her Master’s Research on the topic, in 2014.
Dr. Pierre Joubert

Pierre obtained a PhD in Industrial Sociology from the NWU and is currently the Head of Department: HRM at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT). He has a background in HR administration and has been an academic for the past 30 years. During this time he lectured a number of subjects in the HR field and developed new qualifications in HRM, HRD, Labour Relations Management and Management. He has contributed to textbooks on HRD, published numerous articles in research journals, acts as reviewer for journals, is an external moderator for numerous universities, presented several papers at national and international conferences and supervised a large number of students on masters and doctorate level. He is a member of SABPP for 23 years and a Master HR Practitioner, founding member and current chair of the HR Universities Forum and a member and vice-chair of the Higher Education Committee of the SABPP. Under his leadership the Department Human Resource Management of the VUT received full accreditation from the SABPP and he was instrumental in the alignment of the National HR Standards resulting in VUT being awarded for the best university in HR Standards alignment in 2016. Pierre is actively involved in the accreditation of Higher Education Institutions and developed a new accreditation system. He continuously advises universities on HR professionalism and curriculum development and works tirelessly and passionately to advance the objectives of the profession by developing future HR practitioners.

Busisiwe (Busi) Mashiane is the Group Executive: Human Resources for African Rainbow Minerals (ARM), a position she has held since July 2014, after being promoted from the position of Executive: Human Resources since December 2011 from the Human Resources Manager: Corporate position, since July 2006. She holds, a B. Administration Degree in Industrial Psychology, Honours Degree in Industrial Psychology, a Labour Relations Certificate and Master’s Degree in Business Leadership with Change Management Elective (distinction) and completed her Research Thesis on the topic “Transformational barriers against women advancement in South African Platinum Mines” (distinction). Busi’s article met the publishing requirements of the University of South Africa (Unisa). She is currently enrolled with Cranefield College for a PhD in Commerce and Administration investigating the following topic “Ensuring effective transformation in the South African Mining Industry by integrating black professionals in talent management”. Busi has held a number of Human Resources Generalist positions during her career, growing and developing her skills from operational Human Resources to strategic Human Resources. During the past 21 years, she has served in a number of committees and led national and international Human Resources Teams including Africa, the United Kingdom, Europe, Switzerland and the Indian Ocean Region. Her experience gained ranges from diverse industries such as banking, telecoms, information technology, hospitality, manufacturing and mining. Her recent strategic achievements include developing and integrated the 4 strategic HR pillars for ARM Group, design ARM group operating model for people practices. Her passion is on talent management and human capital development. She also affiliates and serves on a number of boards and sub-committees, she is a Master HR Professional with SABPP and a member of Institute of Directors SA.
Dr Rica Viljoen

Dr Rica Viljoen’s model on Inclusivity was viewed as one of the 10 most promising contribution to the field of Management, Spirituality and Religion by the Academy of Management in 2008. Since then, this approach to hear the voices the whole social system, was applied in 42 different countries with over 100 000 participants. One of the organisations that adapted this methodology is Interstate Bus Lines (IBL). In this book, the story of IBL, as one of dr Rica’s personal favourites, is told. Over the years. various organisational development interventions were implemented in this company and today the successful story of co determination form the basis of this book. Viljoen has been awarded the CEO award for her contribution to the field of study nationally and internationally by the Institute of Personal Management (IBP) for which she also acts as ambassador. She is an adjunct faculty member of the Henley Business School in South Africa and a senior research associate at the University of Johannesburg. She works closely with dr Don Beck and dr Loraine Laubscher; and the various Centres for Human Emergence to study geo-political trends and how it impacts people and the organisations they form. Dr Viljoen has published numerous academic chapters and books and expresses the passion of ensuring that untold stories finds its way into mainstream publications.

Dayalan holds a wide range of National and Internationally recognized qualifications in the areas of Education, Human Resource Development, Organisational Development (OD) , Change Management as well as in other management & leadership related disciplines. He has served as a Senior training advisor / evaluator at the SA police training academy, assistant director at the SA management development institute (SAMDI), as a lecturer at Technikon South Africa (TSA) & the University of SA (Unisa) and as a regional Academic manager. During his tenures he has worked on a whole range of OD, transformational programmes, management & leadership and capacity building projects over the last 18 years across SA and broader Africa. In addition to this, he has done work in Kenya, Zimbabwe and some work with the Mauritius PwC offices. He is currently a Partner within the Advisory division of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he leads the People & Organization Competency across SA. Before joining PwC, Dayalan occupied a number of senior positions within Government and the higher Education sector and also functioned as an Academic in the area of Management & Leadership at Unisa. He has presented a number of papers internationally and also published a series of articles during his stint as an Academic. He is also an active member of the Institute for Directors (IoD – SA). Dayalan served successfully on the IPM – Board of Directors for the period 2011-2014. He has travelled abroad extensively and has acquired vast experience and knowledge in the areas of HRD, People & Change Management & People Development. He currently leads the Change management proposition for PwC across Africa and serves on the Global forum. Dayalan successfully completed his Masters in HRD and Lifelong learning at the University of Stellenbosch, and he is now currently in the midst of his doctorate studies.

HR Executive, Absa Group Limited - Wealth Investment Management and Insurance. Mr Sifiso Cele is currently employed by Absa Group Limited as an HR Executive. Previously was employed by the Liberty Group as an Executive of Human Resources for STANLIB Limited. Within the Liberty Group, Sifiso also held a several head of HR roles, i.e. Head of HR for Liberty Corporate and Liberty Health. Before joining the Liberty Group, he was employed as the Head of Talent Sourcing and Selection for Absa Corporate & Business Bank. Among others, Sifiso has worked for Standard Bank, ABI and Uniliver. Collectively, he has 18 years of experience within the Human Resources field and has been in executive roles for the last 14 years. Sifiso holds an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), a Post-graduate Diploma in Business Management from UKZN, an Honours degree in Industrial Sociology, a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree in Industrial Sociology & Organisational Psychology, both from UCT. As a professional, Sifiso has appeared in the following publications, Sunday Times Career Section article “Out of the Box Into the Job – March 2012; Impumelelo Magazine 2011/2012; Best Employers 2011/2012; Destiny Man September / October 2012; Impumelelo Magazine 2012/2013 and has co-authored and published a book “A Strange Place Called Home” (2007). Dr Shamila Singh

Shamila Singh’s research, teaching, coaching, and consulting services reflect her interest in human resources, leadership, governance, inclusivity, and sustainability. Shamila has a doctorate in business leadership from School for Business Leadership (Unisa), Master in Business Leadership (Unisa), a Honours Degree in Industrial Psychology, Development Programme in Labour Relations and a Qualification in Coaching. Shamila is involved in academic and research work for Unisa, Mancosa, Open University, Unisa School of Business Leadership, Mancosa, Regent Business School, Durban University of Technology, University of KwaZulu-Natal and the Institute of Marketing Management. Her research has been published and presented at conferences nationally and internationally. She is also a business and executive coach, mediator, Masters HR Practioner and HR Lead Auditor. In her previous role at SABPP she was the Head of the Audit Division and Head of HR Standards Division. As a Master HR Practitioner she focuses on HR strategy, research, HR Quality, and capacity development. She is the managing director of Unique Consulting Services that specialises in leadership development, OD, HR specialist advisory services and coaching. Shamila is a board member of the South African Nursing Council, NISSA Institute for Women Development and Southern African Society for Quality (SASQ). Shamila was also a member of the advisory committee of HR at Unisa and University of Johannesburg. Shamila’s corporate career started in retail sector in several HR related positions and then she held a senior management position in the not-for-profit sector. She is accredited by numerous professional bodies, namely, SA Board for People Practices, Health Professional Council of SA, Board Health Funders, Center for Effective Dispute Resolution (UK) and as an assessor\moderator with a number of SETAs.
Brian J.H. Matthee

Brian Matthee is a qualified, astute and highly experienced human resources management professional with more than 20 years' experience with world leading companies such as Lafarge, Sappi and Barloworld and Chryso Group. He offers a combination of human capital development, employee relations, talent management, remuneration and performance management competencies, earned through actual work experience and academic training. Brian serves the H.R. Profession at National level as a Board Member of the S.A.B.P.P. and he is a current Board Member, who is serving a second term. Brian was appointed as Chairman of the H.R. Audit Council and was co-opted to the Board in this capacity. Brian is also a member of the National Professional Registration Committee. Noluthando Stonto Leapia Msibi
Noluthando Stonto Leapia Msibi is a commercial and business law attorney with over fourteen years’ experience. She has been in the ICT sector for the past decade and is currently in the senior management of the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA), the regulator for the ICT sector. Prior to this role, she served in a senior management role within MTN as a Senior Commercial Legal Advisor where she advised in strategic commercial transactions and also conducted workshops in relation to legal compliance. Stonto has a passion for strategic negotiations not only in commercial transactions but also in other general business matters. She has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Commercial and Business Law. Both qualifications were conferred by the University of the Witwatersrand.
Kolobe Mashala has more than 12 years of experience in the field of operations, business, and financial management within the public, NGO and private sectors. Mr. Mashala is a CA(SA) (Chartered Accountant of South Africa). Throughout his career, he has gained extensive expertise applying among the following tools and applications: SAP, SAGE, SYSPRO, Accpac, Caseware, JD Edwards and Hyperion financial management. Moreover, he has acquired in-depth knowledge regarding treasury regulations, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (SA GAAP), Generally Recognised Accounting Practice (GRAP), US GAAP, IFRS, MFMA, Sarbanes Oxley, Corporate Governance and the Public Finance and Management Act (PFMA).
